WFZ Karlsruhe

Project Desctiption

The office building at the Alter Schlachthof in Karlsruhe is projected to support young startup companies and offers representative but achievable spaces to them.

The building with outer dimensions of 53,4 x 16,5 m geometrically consists of two cubes of different heights and of a slight eccentricity 2,0 meters.

The load bearing structure is formed by a clearly organized reinforced concrete skeleton structure without basement. The bracing system against wind and seismic loading consists of two concrete cores and three cross walls, cantilevering from the foundation plate.

Due to the poor subsoil conditions, a ground improvement by application of the Vibro Replacement technique is carried out in the area of the foundation plate in order to minimize and equalize soil settlements.
